Many high-performing professionals are functioning in survival mode without even realising it.  They are capable, driven and responsible. They meet deadlines, solve problems, carry pressure and continue performing, often while silently experiencing chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, cognitive overload, anxiety, loss of motivation, poor recovery and an inability to truly switch off.

Over time, this way of functioning begins affecting:

  • focus and concentration,
  • emotional regulation,
  • productivity,
  • creativity,
  • relationships,
  • decision-making,
  • physical wellbeing,
  • and ultimately, overall quality of life.

Many people believe the solution is to simply “push harder.”  But sustainable high performance is not about functioning in a constant state of pressure and depletion.

It is about understanding how your mind, nervous system, emotional patterns, energy and behavioural habits influence the way you function under stress, and learning how to work with these systems more effectively rather than against them.

My coaching approach is designed to help individuals improve performance, emotional resilience, energy management and focus in a way that is sustainable and aligned with long-term wellbeing.

A Different Approach to High Performance

Traditional ideas of productivity and performance often encourage:

  • overworking,
  • constant urgency,
  • emotional suppression,
  • multitasking,
  • perfectionism,
  • and chronic mental overload.

While these patterns may create short-term output, they often come at a significant long-term cost.  My coaching approach combines:

  • neuroscience,
  • behavioural science,
  • mindset transformation,
  • emotional intelligence,
  • stress and nervous system awareness,
  • and practical behavioural change strategies

My coaching programme is a transformational process focused on helping individuals function more intentionally, effectively and sustainably in both life and work.

Signs You May Be Functioning in Survival Mode

Many high performers normalise chronic stress for so long that they no longer recognise its impact.   You may benefit from this coaching if you:

  • constantly feel mentally “on” or unable to switch off,
  • feel emotionally exhausted,
  • struggle with concentration,
  • feel overwhelmed,
  • procrastinate because everything feels mentally heavy,
  • experience chronic tension, irritability or anxiety,
  • struggle to maintain boundaries,
  • feel disconnected from yourself or your motivation,
  • experience declining energy or productivity,
  • feel guilty when resting,
  • constantly operate in urgency mode,
  • struggle with emotional regulation,
  • or feel that your current way of functioning is no longer sustainable.

Understanding Burnout Differently

Burnout is not simply about working too hard and workload. It is often the result of prolonged emotional, mental and physiological overload without sufficient recovery, regulation or behavioural change.

Burnout can be influenced by:

  • chronic stress exposure,
  • perfectionism,
  • people-pleasing,
  • high emotional responsibility,
  • lack of boundaries,
  • constant cognitive switching,
  • unresolved emotional patterns,
  • poor recovery habits,
  • chronic pressure,
  • and deeply ingrained beliefs around worth, achievement or responsibility.

Many individuals attempt to recover from burnout purely through rest, while returning to the exact same behavioural systems that created the problem.  True recovery and sustainable performance require deeper awareness and change.

My Approach

I have always been deeply interested in understanding human behaviour, why people think the way you do, and the inner workings of the mind.

Over the past decade, I have worked with professionals, leaders and teams across high-pressure environments, helping them better understand the relationship between:

  • stress and performance,
  • emotions and behaviour,
  • cognitive overload and productivity,
  • self-awareness and resilience,
  • and sustainable high functioning.

My most fulfilling moments in coaching is when someone begins to understand themselves differently, not with judgment, but with true self-awareness.

From the very first session, Maryke created a safe and compassionate space for me to unpack emotions and thought patterns that had been silently holding me back in my daily life. With her intuitive guidance and thoughtful approach, I was able to identify what no longer served me and begin rebuilding a more balanced and intentional way of living.

One of the biggest transformations I’ve experienced is in my self-confidence. I’ve grown in ways I never expected, to the point where I no longer recognize the old version of myself. I feel inspired again, not just to improve my own life, but to contribute positively to the lives of those around me.  I would sincerely recommend Maryke to anyone seeking personal transformation, clarity, and real, lasting change. Her work is powerful, and her impact is deeply felt.

Before my sessions with Maryke, I was anxious and depressed 90% of the time and had no motivation for anything.  She helped me to let go of all my old baggage.  I am no longer anxious and depressed, and look forward to my life ahead!

I benefited só much from the coaching program with Maryke. She helped me navigate through some unresolved anxiety triggers, which were holding me back from being the best version of me. She also helped me tackle self-doubt and set me up to reach some life-long dreams.
